The space around the safety counterflow heat exchanger is filled with a thermally conductive medium and fitted with an overpressure valve via a capillary tube that can be connected to optical or acoustic alarm systems. In the event that the outdoor or indoor pipe is not properly sealed, water or refrigerant will leak out through the space above the capillary tube. There is no risk of contamination of the water to be heated by lubricants in the refrigeration circuit.<br><br>If only the superheat quantity is used, it is often the case that only a small surface but a relatively large cross-section is required.
